T.J. Cook
T.J. believes in the power of technology to foster social good. As Chief Strategy Officer of HiDef, Inc., an online product development firm serving great causes, T.J. has stayed at the forefront of web technologies and social impact. In recent years he’s become a passionate advocate of the intersection between social entrepreneurship and social campaign design.
He has championed user experience and communications strategy for many social good projects, invigorating innovation at key early phases. He advocates and plans for the needs of project audiences by crafting social campaigns that engage participants and donors through careful considerations of social dynamics, achievement systems, and reward mechanisms inside and outside an initiative.
Dr. Lucia Antonia Alcantara, MPA, Ed. D.
Dr. Lucia Antonia Alcántara is Principal and Founder of Futures Today Consulting an international boutique firm dedicated to improving client performance in 100 days or less. A seasoned consultant, Lucia’s expertise lies in organizational capacity building and strategic planning. Her career spans over 12 years of working with executives and work groups in government, private and public organizations and has significant management experience. Lucia also holds additional competencies in program assessment and evaluation, program design, executive coaching and peer learning.
Prior to launching Futures Today Consulting Dr Alcántara served in local municipalities and state government for over 10 years. She is passionate about adult learning and is currently involved in several projects to eradicate poverty by increasing the number of female policy makers throughout the developing world. In 2010, Lucia was named as a Rotary Peace Fellow at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand.
Lucia is currently an adjunct faculty at Adelphi University’s Master in Social Work program and Indiana Institute of Technology’s Global Leadership Ph.D. program. As an educational facilitator, she has taught management and multi-cultural relations at Cornell University and Russell Sage College, respectively; and experiential learning at City University of New York. Dr. Alcántara holds a bachelor’s degree from the Maxwell School of Public Affairs and Citizenship at Syracuse University, a Masters in Public Administration from Baruch College and a Doctorate in Adult Learning and Leadership from Columbia University’s Teachers College.
A published author, her work includes “Not Just Talk: How Social Change Agents Produce Knowledge in Cooperative Inquiry Groups”, by Lambert Academic Publishing, 2010. She has contributed chapters to two books on organizations and transformation; Transformation in Action, Mezirow and Associates, 2009; and Turning to Practice with Action Research, Brøgger and Eikeland, editors, 2010. Results of her research have also been published in international conference journals for the Association for Human Resources Development, and Academy of Management’s Research Methods Division.
Tim Coburn
Tim Coburn is a leadership consultant with 20 years experience at world class organisations including the BBC, Motorola and Rolls-Royce. In 2009-10, he worked at Kenya Airways to help CEO, Titus Naikuni drive a performance culture and he continues to be retained as the company’s leadership consultant.
During his time in Nairobi, Tim met Wiclif and together, they helped develop enterprise skills in young women attending Kibera Girls Soccer Academy. He worked as a mentor and coach to Wiclif and joined discussions with street youth in Karangware and at City Park. As a Board Member of Kito International, Tim advises on strategy and governance and, during visits to Nairobi, offers practical training to Wiclif, his leadership team and their trainees.
Based in the UK, Tim is also a Member of the Board of Directors at Kibera Girls Soccer Academy and a Visiting Fellow at three British Universities with international reputations.
