KITO means Precious Gem in Kiswahili. It comes from the concept that all street youth are diamonds in the rough. They are hidden treasures with a lot of potential just waiting for an opportunity.
A street youth is anyone between the ages of 18-35 that lives and/or works on the streets to survive. However, KITO works with youth between the ages of 17-24.
